- IF SOMEONE HAS BEEN ARRESTED
Call Before First Appearance
In Florida, a person who is arrested and held goes before a judge within 24 hours. That hearing, called first appearance, is where bond and release conditions are set. Having an attorney involved before it happens is the single most useful step a family can take in the first day.
When you call, it helps to have the following ready: the full name and date of birth of the person arrested, the county and the arresting agency, the charges if you know them, and where the person is being held. If you do not have all of it, call anyway.
Palm Beach County arrestees are held at the Main Detention Center, 3228 Gun Club Road, West Palm Beach. First appearances are held there daily.

Submitting this form does not create an attorney-client relationship. Please do not include confidential details about your case until Andrew has confirmed representation; a phone call is the better way to discuss specifics.
Common Defenses
- The legality of the stop: Police must have reasonable suspicion to pull you over. If not, the evidence may be suppressed.
- Field sobriety tasks: These are subjective and require specific procedures. Deviations or medical conditions can affect the results of these tasks.
- Breath test accuracy: Machines must be properly maintained, and officers properly trained.
- Rising blood alcohol: Sometimes your BAC is below 0.08 at the time of driving but rises by the time of testing.
- Medical conditions: Neurological issues, medications, or physical limitations can mimic signs of impairment.
